About Redditch

Redditch is a large town set in the north east of Worcestershire with a population of about 77,000 people. The origins of the town can be traced back to a small hamlet developed around Bordesley Abbey, said to be built by Cistercian Monks in the 12th century.

By the nineteenth century Redditch was a leader in manufacturing needles, springs and fish hooks. In 1964 the town was developed to alleviate overpopulation in Birmingham which gave birth to new housing and industrial estates which are still thriving today.

The town has a recently modernised shopping centre – The Kingfisher – regarded as one of the largest and best shopping centres within the West Midlands, which includes 150 shops catering to all tastes and price ranges. You’ll also find a new cinema, an Edwardian theatre and a great range of bars and restaurants to keep the family entertained.
